Mark D Baker – Principal and Managing Director

B.Com (Honours) MBA

Mark has over 30 years of experience in investment banking, senior management, corporate advice and since 2016, in private equity investment.

Mark gained corporate advisory experience as Associate Director at UBS (then Potter Warburg) and at ANZ Bank (as Director, Corporate Advisory and as Managing Director of Corporate Finance at ANZ LINWAR.

As Co-Founder and CEO of Guthy-Renker Australia, he established, arranged funding for, built, led and successfully exited a leading electronic retailing business launching one of Australia’s most successful consumer personal care brands.

Mark is responsible for ensuring that as “trusted adviser”, Brenowen builds and maintains long-term relationships which yield outstanding outcomes and value- add for our clients. he has an unswerving dedication and commitment to our clients’ interests, applying his considerable skills to ensure our clients are exceptionally served.

Mark has a special interest in strategic financial management and building business value over the long term. These efforts are enhanced by the application of his skills in advising organisations on key corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, divestments and capital raising and key financial matters such as financial performance, capital structure, board composition and shareholder negotiations.

Mark helps our investees and family office clients monitor, control, report on and optimize their interests and plan for and execute liquidity and exit events.

When he is not working, you may find him fitness training or on the golf course.

 

Ross M Lewin – Principal

B.Com CA F.FIN

Ross is a Chartered Accountant who has over 40 years of experience in investment banking and corporate advice and since 2016, in private equity investment.

His experience has been gained in large financial services organisations (ABN Amro, ANZ Bank), as well as boutique advisory and specialist restructuring firms.

Ross provides insightful strategic recommendations and conducts mandates in capital raising, M&A, divestment, and shareholder and bank negotiations.

Ross has been responsible for numerous IPO’s and secondary issues and has helped his clients raise over $1.5 billion in equity funding.

Ross is sought after as a non-executive director, mentor and team member/project leader in situations where his experience and skills, particularly outstanding presentation skills, are the difference between moderate and outstandingly successful outcomes.

Ross helps our investees at Board level.

When he is not working, you may find him taking long walks and photographing interesting aspects of nature with long scientific names.

 

Glen Lees – Consulting Partner and Head of Outsourced CFO Services

Glen is a Chartered Accountant and started his career at Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC) in auditing. Glen later worked for Horwath’s (now Deloitte) in their Insolvency & Business Recovery division where he gained invaluable hands-on business experience.

Glen was one of the founding shareholders of the Oporto Fast Food chain and was actively involved in all aspects of growing the Oporto brand (finance, legal, franchising, marketing and operations) from its infancy up to its successful sale to Quadrant Private Equity in June 2007. After the sale to Quadrant, Glen remained at Oporto on a management contract (whilst still retaining some equity) as Oporto’s CFO until the second successful sale to Archer Private Equity in June 2011. At the time of the second sale the Oporto brand had over 150 sites across Australia, UK, China and the US.

After exiting Oporto, Glen along with two ex-Oporto shareholders opened 7 large format, high volume, casual dining restaurants under the Bondi Pizza brand name. Glen successfully exited this business in April 2020.

Glen is now focused on his private investments, and in which he takes an active interest, is actively involved where assistance is required in advising some of these private businesses which retain his services, particularly in relation to finance and accounting, legal and best practice stakeholder reporting and corporate governance matters.

Glen works closely with Brenowen in relation to our Private Equity Investments and leads our provision of Outsourced CFO Services.
